Ensure our local elected officials get back to the basics of serving residents –meeting with residents, insuring resident voices are adequately represented at commission meetings, leading neighborhoods in improving our parks, fixing potholes, making sidewalks safe for transit, alleviating traffic congestion, and helping residents with complicated processes like permitting and eliminating nuisance fees.
Fix the flooding by investing in state-of-the-art environmental measures against flooding so Miami is better prepared for heavy rains, king tides, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. Develop and enhance resident focused educational campaigns promoting climate resiliency.
Addressing the housing crisis by increasing affordable and workforce housing projects in our community. Working with Federal, State, and County authorities to maximize housing opportunities for residents.
Encourage smart growth policies that maintain the character of neighborhoods while mandating independent traffic studies for all large-scale, high-density developments projects being considered by the City Commission. Encourage respectful development in residential neighborhoods by creating greater connection with city departments and neighborhoods to avoid unnecessary damage to tree canopies, trash piles, construction debris and damaged streets.
Fight to increase opportunities for longtime Miami residents in historically black neighborhoods like Coconut Grove in the district who have been negatively impacted from rampant development and gentrification. Work hard to assist displaced residents in finding suitable housing.
Putting a greater emphasis on crime and keeping communities like ours safe. Treat “petty crime” seriously and increase crime deterrence measures. Ensure areas have good lighting, promote safe walking and transit, and aggressively act on district complaints regarding these issues.
