Damian Pardo for Miami City Commission

About Damian Pardo Miami City Commission D2

MEET DAMIAN

As a candidate who has never held elected office, Damian wants to shake things up in city government by making sure our local elected officials get back to the basics of serving residents – whether it’s heightened responsiveness to constituents, enhancing our parks and green spaces, fixing potholes and making sidewalks safe for transit, prioritizing environmental resiliency (flooding) so Miami is better prepared for hurricanes, or putting a greater emphasis on keeping communities like ours safe.

DAMIAN ON THE ISSUES

Damian Pardo Miami Commission Parks & Rec

Get Back To Basics

Ensure our local elected officials get back to the basics of serving residents –meeting with residents, insuring resident voices are adequately represented at commission meetings, leading neighborhoods in improving our parks, fixing potholes, making sidewalks safe for transit, alleviating traffic congestion, and helping residents with complicated processes like permitting and eliminating nuisance fees.

Combat Sea-Level Rise & Prioritize Environmental Resiliency

Fix the flooding by investing in state-of-the-art environmental measures against flooding so Miami is better prepared for heavy rains, king tides, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. Develop and enhance resident focused educational campaigns promoting climate resiliency.

Increase Affordable & Workforce Housing

Addressing the housing crisis by increasing affordable and workforce housing projects in our community. Working with Federal, State, and County authorities to maximize housing opportunities for residents.

Oppose Large-Scale Development

Encourage smart growth policies that maintain the character of neighborhoods while mandating independent traffic studies for all large-scale, high-density developments projects being considered by the City Commission. Encourage respectful development in residential neighborhoods by creating greater connection with city departments and neighborhoods to avoid unnecessary damage to tree canopies, trash piles, construction debris and damaged streets.

Increase Opportunities For All

Fight to increase opportunities for longtime Miami residents in historically black neighborhoods like Coconut Grove in the district who have been negatively impacted from rampant development and gentrification. Work hard to assist displaced residents in finding suitable housing.

Support Law Enforcement & Protect Our Neighborhoods

Putting a greater emphasis on crime and keeping communities like ours safe. Treat “petty crime” seriously and increase crime deterrence measures.  Ensure areas have good lighting, promote safe walking and transit,  and aggressively act on district complaints regarding these issues.
